77 Y.O MAN KILLED AFTER BEING HIT BY TAXI & FLUNG 10M IN BISHAN ACCIDENT, DRIVER ARRESTED

A 77-year-old elderly man was killed after allegedly being hit by a taxi along Bishan Street 22, according to Shin Min Daily News.

He left his home on 2 December at about 6am in the morning, and was crossing the road to board a bus to visit his niece at Yishun when the accident occurred.

The elderly man was purportedly flung 10 metres after being hit by the taxi, and his belongings were strewn all over the road.

Speaking to SMDN, his niece said that her uncle walked relatively slowly but was otherwise in good health. She added that he was supposed to join her family for dinner and to celebrate Christmas together.

The Singapore Police Force confirmed the accident and said that they were alerted to the accident, which involved a taxi and a pedestrian on 2 December at about 6.18am.

The accident took place along Bishan Street 22 and the victim was sent to the hospital conscious, where he later succumbed to his injuries and died.

The 67-year-old male taxi driver has also been arrested for careless driving causing grievous hurt, and police investigations are ongoing.
