A 27-year-old man was sentenced to 13 weeks imprisonment on 3 December after posting a photo of his wife sleeping with her supervisor, calling the latter a homewrecker.
He had pleaded guilty to one count of theft and distributing an intimate image, with two more changes of possession and distribution of the intimate images being considered during his sentencing.
What happened?
The man had moved out of his wife’s home in December 2019 and visited her on 6 February 2020 after suspecting her of cheating on him
He then snatched her phone from her and ran away, before going through the contents inside to see if he was right.
He found videos of her in the n-de and a photo of her sleeping with her supervisor, which he then transferred to his phone.
He then returned her phone to her without telling what he had done.
Went viral on Facebook
The man then posted a photo of her sleeping with her supervisor on Facebook, with the privacy setting set to public and named the supervisor and his job in the caption.
He also shared conversation screenshots of his wife and her supervisor on Facebook.
The post soon went viral, with about 3,000 likes, 2,000 shares and 1,000 comments; before removing the post because he was overwhelmed by the attention it garnered.
However he later reuploaded the post again and censored his wife’s face, before removing it again the next day.
