EX LTA OFFICER CHARGED FOR ALLEGEDLY BREACHING OFFICIAL SECRETS ACT

Benny Tan Yong Liang, 34-years-old, was charged with an offence under the official secrets act on 7 December.

The former Land Transport Authority (LTA) officer had allegedly retained work-related documents on his own laptop after resigning from LTA.

The offence happened between 30 November last year to 8 March this year, when he allegedly kept work documents when he didn’t have the right.

The court documents didn’t provide information about what work documents he kept or when he left LTA.

Benny is expected to return to court on 4 January 2022 and if convicted, he faced a jail term of up to 6 months and a fine of up to $1,000.
