The Ministry of Trade and Industry said that the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) via the Causeway will be expanded to include Singaporeans and Malaysians from 20 December onwards.
Currently the land VTL across the causeway is being reserved for citizens, permanent resident and long term pass holders of the country they were visiting, with the priority being given to them to reunite them with families.
Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong said that the government is continuing to review the arrangement to see if the land VTL can be expanded to include other modes of transports such as via trains.
He said that travelers need to take into account the infection situation in both countries and that those who want to go to JB on day trips need to assess the situation as there will be subjected to regular tests.
The current test protocols will see no changes with the expanding of the land VTL and all travelers entering Singapore will need to following the prevailing protocols and measures such as a post-arrival 7-day ART test regime.
