SOME HAWKERS REJECT PAYMENT BY CDC VOUCHERS, WOULD PREFER PHYSICAL COPY

The CDC voucher was introduced by the Government on 13 Dec 2021 to help households and businesses in Singapore cope with the pandemic situation which has been ongoing since early 2020.

Every household in Singapore were given $100 to spend at participating businesses who have opted in to be part of the scheme.

To use the vouchers, members of the public have to show a QR code to the business owner who will then scan the code with their device to receive the payment.

Rejected by some hawkers

Some hawkers have reportedly reject receiving payments via the CDC vouchers as it comes in digital form.

These group of hawkers are usually the non IT savvy ones who are unfamiliar with using a mobile device and would prefer to have a physical voucher.

People’s Association to help these hawkers

According to Shin Min Daily News, ambassadors are sent by the People’s Association (PA) to educate these hawkers and to also encourage them to register and try out the platform.

A step by step demonstration on how to use the platforms are also given to the hawkers when they raise questions about the usage of the app.
