A video emerged online showing a lorry driver beating a red light at a road junction and crashing into a Comfort taxi.
The incident happened on 27 January at about 9.20am, at a road junction in Boon Lay Drive.
The accident was captured on the dashcam of another vehicle and shows the traffic light signaling red against the lorry.
But the lorry didn’t appear to slow down at all and crashed into a blue coloured Comfort taxi.
The netizen who posted the video, captioned it:
“This happened in front of me this morning around along Boon Lay Drive. Hope that this footage will help the taxi uncle.”
Potential penalties
It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.
Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.
They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
