The Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said last night (13 February) that Singaporeans who are in Ukraine are advised to leave the country as soon as possible.

This comes in the wake of heightened tensions in Ukraine and the surrounding region, with fears of a Russian invasion – the Russians have stationed more than 130,000 troops near Ukraine.

The US said that a Russian invasion could happen any moment but Russia has since denied it.

MFA said that Singaporeans who are in Ukraine are advised to leave as soon as possible via commercial means while it is still possible to do so.

The MFA added that there is “no guarantee” that they will be in a position to help Singaporeans leave Ukraine should a conflict break out, as Singapore doesn’t have a diplomatic mission there.

Singaporeans who are still in Ukraine are advised to register with the MFA immediately if they haven’t, and those who need consular assistance can contact the MFA at their 24-hour duty office at +65 6379 8800/8855.
