A 4-year-old girl who was kicked to death by her stepfather was cleared of the murder charge yesterday (March 1).
29-year-old Muhammad Salihin Ismail was convicted of voluntarily causing grievous hurt instead of murder.
The child was kicked in the stomach but it was unintentional as the father was angry he started kicking whatever was in front of him but he did not particularly aim at any part of the victim’s body.
The judge said that there was no proof that the suspect had the intention to inflict fatal injuries to the child.
What happened?
The incident happened in September 2018, the accused got angry after the girl urinated on the floor. During the time of the incident, the mother was not home.
Salihin did not beat her but brought her to the toilet bowl, but it happened again and Salihin pushed and kicked the girl in the abdomen reacting to his anger.
Later that day the girl said that she was experiencing a stomachache and vomited and later became unconscious.
The victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital on September 2 at 10.15 AM
Autopsy reports revealed that the girl died from internal bleeding.
History of ill treating the girl
Salihin is also facing two charges for two separate incidents of violence against the victim, Back in 2017, he scalded the girl with hot water from the shower.
In 2018, he slam the girl’s head against the wall.
The case has been adjourned and he will be back in court for his sentencing.
