A worker at Food Junction’s What The Fish grilled fish stall who was seen smoking and handling food without gloves on 17 March, has since been sacked by Food Junction, according to a spokesperson who spoke to Stomp.
The woman who ordered food from them and caught the man in the act, told Stomp that she had ordered half a sea bass with some mushrooms and vegetables for about $14.80.
She waited for her food and when she later looked through the kitchen window, she saw the food handler using his bare hands to handle the food.
A lit cigarette was also seen being held between his fingers, with smoke rising from it.
She then took a photo of the man with the lit cigarette in his mouth, before telling the counter staff that she wishes to cancel her order and wants a refund, telling her about the man smoking and the pictures that she had taken.
She then added that she didn’t tell Food Junction about what happened, but had made a report to the SFA.
Food Junction said that they have investigated the incident and issued a stern warning to the tenant of the stall, and the staff who was smoking was also terminated with immediate effect.
