WOMAN USES DOG AS FOOT REST UNDER HDB BLOCK

A video was seen circulating online showing a woman using a dog as a foot rest under a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block.

While resting the weight of her foot on the poor poodle/toy poodle, the woman was seen resting comfortably and using her phone while the poor dog was standing still in front of her, unable to move probably due to the weight of the woman’s foot.

The video first appeared on Tiktok under the Tiktok handle of @jefflittlemoutain and it was shot in the point of view of another pet dog who was standing up and looking down at the scene from the unit’s window.

The Tiktoker who shot the video probably wanted to just highlight the cruel act of the woman below the block but decide to do it light heartedly by showcasing the act under his or her pet dog’s point of view while his or her pet dog was probably just excited at seeing another dog below the block.

Laws on animal cruelty

According to laws in Singapore on animal cruelty, anyone who permits or causes unnecessary pain or suffering to animals be it physically or psychologically by methods of beating, kicking, ill-treating or even terrifying the animal and is eventually found guilty is subjected to the following punishments:

• Fine of up to $15,000 and/or up to 18 months jail term (First offence)
• Fine of up to $30,000 and/or up to 3 years jail term (Subsequent offences)
