Finding a good hotel normally depends on the rating given on any travel websites, Personally I would always check for basic stuff like cleanliness and location.
However, a resort in Khao Yai, Thailand has taken a step too far by threatening to sue a tourist for giving a 6/10 star review. Claiming defamation after a review was left on Agoda.
A post was shared on Facebook regarding the case:
“After a long New Year’s holiday, today, I gave advice on cases that have been made an appointment via Inbox: https://m.me/sittralawfirm More than 10 cases. Khun Khing travelled to Khao Yai and then went to review on Agoda in mid-December. The hotel was called back and threatened and the company’s lawyer demanded 3,000,000 Baht for damages to be paid within 15 days.
Get 5 different newspapers companies to publish an apology for 7 days in a row.”
The hotel also asks the woman to pay them S$1,900 per day for not complying with the demand.
The post has since viral in Thailand and even Agoda responded to the post to confirm the case.
Netizens outrage
- Sue back for ten million
- Boycott the hotel
- The words are not strong. It’s a review. No rude words. There are pros and cons. Like other people review products. Good or bad, it’s based on the real condition.
- There are people like this. Will someone dare to review?
