WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SELLING COUNTERFEIT GOODS, 2400 PIECES SEIZED

A 42-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the selling of counterfeit products.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department conducted enforcement operations on 14 April 2022 at a street market along Clementi Avenue 3 and a residential unit along Ang Mo Kio Street 51, resulting in the arrest. During the investigation, almost 2,400 items of trademark-infringing clothing were confiscated, with an estimated street value of $62,000. The police inquiry is still underway.

The act of selling or distributing goods with fraudulently applied trademarks is punishable by a fine of up to $100,000, imprisonment for up to five years, or both under the Trade Marks Act of 1998.
