A ComfortDelGro taxi driver was allegedly punched in the face by a man on 23 April after asking the man to exit the taxi because it was already booked by other people.
The other person who had booked the taxi, Malcolm Keating, then posted videos that he took of the alleged aggressor and shared them online.
ComfortDelGro spoke to Mothership and said that they are in touch with the taxi driver and are in the midst of assisting him following the alleged assault.
The group chief branding and communications officer, Tammy Tan, said that they will be waiving the rental for the three days of medical leave that the driver was given, and that they will be assisting him the best that they can.
She also added that they will assist the police in their investigations.
On cabbies being assaulted, she said that drivers should not retaliate and file a police report, as well as forward it to the company for follow up action.
She further added that the company will help them with their medical claim, losses and also rental waiver if needed, as well as compensate them for their loss in income when they are required in court as witnesses.
On the passenger Malcolm Keating who helped to take a video of the man, she thanked him and his friends for helping out the driver and bringing the matter to light.
