Utheyakumar Nallathamby, 65-years-old, was sentenced to 5 days imprisonment after admitting to a cheating by personation charge on 27 April.
He was unvaccinated and had used another person’s TraceTogether app to enter a bar at Sentosa last year.
The person to allowed Nallathamby to use his app, Kiran Singh Rugbhir Singh, a 37-year-old Malaysian, was also jailed 5 days in February for letting Nallathamby pose as him.
Singh and his girlfriend met Utheyakumar on 9 September last year for a drink in Hougang.
The three of them later went to Sentosa to drink some more and they then went to Bikini Bar, where an assistant manager there refused to allow him to enter as he was unvaccinated.
Singh then suggested that the three of them head to Coastes bar and enter using his (Singh) TraceTogether app that had his vaccination status.
Utheyakumar went ahead with his suggestion and used Singh’s phone to enter with the woman, while Singh waited outside.
Utheyakumar was drinking there when the Bikini Bar assistant manager then spotted him and remembered that she didn’t allow him to enter her bar as he was not vaccinated.
She then told the staff at Coastes and a check was then done on Utheyakumar’s phone, and it was found that the phone belonged to Singh the matter was then reported to a duty manager at Sentosa Development Corporation.
The police were then alerted to the incident.
