Nightclubs and karaoke bars will be allowed to resume their regular hours in Thailand, with effect from 1 June.
Most of the country’s remaining pandemic restrictions have been lifted since the decline of their daily infections.
The Thai government is hoping that the latest easing of restrictions will help them revive their tourism sector, which counts for about 12% of their economy prior to the pandemic.
Taweesin Visanuyothin, a spokesman for the government’s COVID-19 taskforce, said that “Entertainment venues, pubs, and massage parlours and others may open until midnight after June.
These businesses should take a universal prevention approach … staff must have received booster doses and take antigen tests every seven days.”
With effect from 1 June as well, Thailand will also remove their requirement for unvaccinated travelers to quarantine themselves, and they will have to take a test upon their arrival or provide a negative test result before their departure.
