A 78-year-old former diplomat of Malaysia was arrested, along with his 53-year-old son, with the Royal Malaysian Police seizing 102 cannabis plants in his property.
The “ganja trees” were worth about RM61,200, with another 1.02kg of cannabis leaves, as well as a bottle of cannabis extract were also seized by the police.
The property in Pahang, Malaysia was raided by the RMP’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department at about 6pm on 21 May.
They found several rows that were believed to have been used to plant ganja, with the authorities believing that the elderly man was growing ganja on a large scale after discovering plastic nursery containers.
The police said that they found 60 cannabis trees that were planted along the boundaries behind the property and garage, with eight more tree in a tent.
The 78-year-old man tested negative for drugs, but his 53-year-old son tested positive.
The case is said to be one of the biggest seizures of ganja plants in Malaysia’s narcotics history.
