PASSPORT NOT STAMPED AT JOHOR CHECKPOINT, MAN DETAINED 7 DAYS & PAID ALMOST $1K FINE

A man from Singapore travelled to Malaysia by car with four friends.

After passing through the Johor Bahru checkpoint, his passport was checked by local officials and he was able to get out of the border. However, when he tried to return to Singapore he claimed that he was detained in Malaysia for 7 days and received a fine as his passport was not chopped.

According to Shin Min Daily News, The 4 individuals who travelled to Malaysia were in their mid-20s and they entered Johor Bahru via Woodlands Checkpoint on 7 May 2022 at around 1100 HRS.

They have a 5-day trip where they travelled to KL and Johor, one of them was able to return to Singapore without any issues as the friend flew back from KL.

Handcuff

The man was handcuffed by the Malaysian authorities and he was only allowed to return after they were detained for 7 days and paid a fine of RM3,000 (SGD$930)

Since 20 years ago, stories such as this have happened before. Always check after taking back your passport from the customs officer. (Something my mom taught me)
