S’PORE WORKER KILLED AFTER BEING HIT BY TIMBER FRAGMENT @ WORKSITE

The 51-year-old Singaporean man was hit by a fragment from plywood that was used for the pile load test.

According to Straits Times, an accident happen on the worksite at Pasir Ris Drive 1 on 10 July.

The man was conveyed to Changi hospital and he passed on 1 week later due to his injury.

The worksite developer is United Microelectronics Corporation, a Taiwanese semiconductor company.

The worksite occupier is Takenaka Corporation, one of the five major general contractors in Japan that provides, engineering, construction and architectural.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is investigating the root cause of the accident and called immediate stop work for all pilling activities.

The Workplace Safety and Health act is very important in Singapore and should follow strictly, it’s the responsibility of the stakeholders.
