An auntie who was drunk and frustrated at not being able to understand the songs, rushed onto the getai stage to grab the microphone and confront the singer.
The bizarre incident happened on 3 August at a getai near Bedok South Market and Food Centre, according to Shin Min Daily News.
There were about 300 people in the audience at the time of the 3-hour show, and the incident happened during the set of a singer named Xian Hong.
Stealing the show
Xian Hong was about to start her 2nd song when the auntie climbed onto the stage and shouted at her to stop, while trying to grab the microphone from her.
The show was then stopped and the host of the show, Li Peifen, then shouted for security to remove the drunken auntie.
The show then carried on and Xian Hong then finished her second song, because I mean, the show has to go on right?
First time experiencing this
Xian Hong then spoke to the media, saying that this was the first time she has encountered an incident like this in all her years of performing.
She also said that she smelled alcohol on the auntie.
Auntie wanted Hokkien songs but was rejected
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the drunken auntie then told them that she rushed the stage because she didn’t understand a few of the songs that were being sung.
She said that she approached the organiser to request for Hokkien songs but was rejected, and she then decided to have her very own “Kanye West VMAs” moment by cutting off the singer mid-song.
She later apologised to the organisers, who confirmed that the matter has been peacefully resolved.
