4 youths between the ages of 18 and 19, were arrested on 5 August for allegedly robbing two kids, aged 14 and 16, and injuring them.
The police received a call for help to an alleged case of assault that took place at a back lane in Arab Street on 4 August at about 9.20pm.
The quartet had allegedly assaulted the two kids and demanded their phones and money, according to the police’s preliminary investigations.
The victims then complied out of fear and gave them cash of about $20 and their phones to the alleged robbers, who then fled the scene.
Both victims suffered injuries including bruises and cuts.
The identities of the robbers were then established by officers from the Central Police Division through the use of police cameras and ground inquiries, and they were swiftly arrested within 18 hours of the crime being reported.
They are set to be charged in court today with voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery, and face a jail term of up to 20 years and 12 strokes of the cane if they are found guilty.
