7 ARRESTED AFTER CNB RAID, WOMAN TRIED TO HIDE BEHIND FOOD RACK DURING RAID

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has arrested 7 Singaporeans believed to be involved in a drug case.

On August 17, 2022, officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested seven Singaporeans ranging in age from 28 to 41.

During both operations, approximately 3,779g of heroin, 14g of ‘Ice,’ 26g of cannabis, 2g of vegetable matter suspected of containing controlled drugs, and five tablets suspected of containing controlled drugs were seized, with an estimated street value of $268,000.

A seizure of 3,779g of heroin is enough to feed the addiction of approximately 1,780 addicts for a week.

3 Arrested in Boon Lay Drive

CNB officers raided a residential unit near Boon Lay Drive on the morning of August 17, arresting a 37-year-old man and a 39-year-old man.

Both men had engaged in a violent struggle to avoid arrest, and force was used to subdue them. CNB officers also arrested a 41-year-old woman who was hiding behind a rack in the unit.

A 41-year-old woman had hid behind a rack in a residential unit in the vicinity of Boon Lay Drive to evade arrest in a CNB operation conducted on 17 August 2022.

The unit contained approximately 26g of cannabis, three tablets believed to be controlled drugs, and various drug paraphernalia, while the 39-year-old man’s belongings contained approximately 26g of heroin and 10g of ‘Ice.’

Prior to the arrest, it was suspected that controlled drugs had been discarded into the garbage chute. Officers later recovered the drugs, which included seven bundles and packets containing approximately 2,529g of

Fernvale Street and Clementi Road

CNB officers also raided a residential unit near Fernvale Street on the same day and arrested a 30-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman for suspected drug offences.

The unit contained approximately 1,139g of heroin, 4g of ‘Ice,’ 2g of vegetable matter suspected of containing controlled drugs, and one tablet suspected of containing controlled drugs, as well as various drug paraphernalia.

CNB officers intercepted a vehicle near Clementi Road in the evening and arrested a 29-year-old man and a 40-year-old man in a follow-up operation. 

The vehicle contained approximately 85g of heroin and one tablet suspected of containing a controlled substance.

Penalties:

Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of pure heroin (diamorphine), he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.

Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing.
