40-year-old Eison Chai, a Malaysian singer who is based in Taiwan, fell to his death on 17 August from a building in New Taipei City.
According to the Straits Times, Chai fell from the Luzhou MRT station building at about 10am and died on the spot.
The Luzhou precinct’s police are currently investigating his death.
Wedding plans
Chai married Taiwanese actress Hitomi Wang in 2020 and they had initially planned to have a wedding banquet in Malaysia soon.
His management agency appealed to the public to respect his wife’s privacy following his death.
According to a news portal in Taiwan, SET News, Chai had reportedly lost about NT$5 million (or SGD$230,000) from a restaurant investment in Ximending.
Locked himself in his room
Wang was working in Yilan and had asked her friends to look about her husband, who was feeling down.
Chai locked himself in a room, and Wang’s friends then thought he was resting inside. But they later heard sirens going off downstairs and realised what had happened.
No notes or messages were found by the authorities.
