S’PORE TRAVELERS VISITING THAILAND WILL BE RANDOMLY TESTED FOR COVID AS XBB CASES RISE

Singapore travellers who are visiting Thailand will be randomly tested for Covid-10, as Singapore experiences a rise in cases of the XBB subvariant of Omicron.

Thailand’s Department of Disease Control (DDC) said that the increased surveillance will apply to all airports in Thailand, according to The Bangkok Post.

Arrivals from Singapore and Hong Kong who display respiratory symptoms may be randomly chosen for testing at the Department of Medical Sciences.

Thailand reopened their borders fully back on 1 October, lifting the restrictions on arrivals, proof of vaccinations and testing.

The XBB strain has been detected in countries such as Australia, India, Japan and the US and presently comprises of 55% of the cases in Singapore, according to the Ministry of Health.

MOH has also tightened SMMs at all hospitals and residential care homes in Singapore for 4 weeks.
