Hi,
Just want to share issue for everyones benefit.
Last week I was holidaying at Vietnam.
On 12 Oct, I withdraw VND 3,000,000.00 from ATM by local Viet bank and I was charged SGD 191.19 ( this excludes additional fees of SGD 7 by DBS bank as overseas cash withdrawal) and same amount was debited from my SG bank account .
As credit card is not widely accepted in Hanoi (for hotels, you need to pay extra 3% if wish to pay by card) I withdraw another VND 3,000,000.00 on 13 Oct from ATM by HSBC bank and I was informed during transaction that SGD 193.76 will be charged (attached receipt).
But later, I noticed that actually SGD 201.10 (excluding additional fees of SGD 7 by DBS) was debited from my SG bank account.
I called my SG bank on 14 Oct upon arrival at SG and they told me they can not help me because deduction amount initiated by HSBC bank. I have also wrote to HSBC to explain why additional amount (about SGDÂ debited from my SG account.
In the mean time, based on this experience, I feel it is better to withdraw cash from local bank ATMs instead of international banks ATM
