She said that Singapore has tons of houses but they aren’t homes, they’re just sitting blocks of investors’ money.

Jade Rasif’s IG post

Went house hunting & prices are just astronomical in SG now We have tons of houses but they aren’t homes. People don’t live in them, they’re just sitting blocks of investors money.

By the time my kids are 18 how are they going to afford a home? I acknowledge I’m blessed to have a roof over my head, and I’m not complaining about my own situation,

so regardless of how you feel about me or this rant – it doesn’t change the fact that housing is unaffordable, and we should be concerned about what it means for meritocracy, and for the young.

  • My son at 33 now already cannot afford to buy one on his own!
  • Interesting…. If there is a need for affordable housing, look no further and get a 3 or 4 BTO flat in a non -matured estate. If you are looking at private properties, then its based on an open market estate. Please don’t be so so one sided. Don’t forget the others who would still want to retain value in their properties….
  • Same problem that most people living in cities have. So equip them with the skills on how to save and grow their money to be able to afford to buy one. E.g California has a home ownership rate of roughly 50-60% and most are still renting cos they are living paycheck to paycheck and can’t even save enough for a down payment. Also, no subsidized housing available in the U.S.
  • People talking about Singapore houses, you bring in USA kum lan ah
