MAN WHO SLASHED PEDESTRIAN & VEHICLES WITH SWORD @ BUANGKOK, JAILED 18 MONTHS

A video previously emerged online back in March showing a man wielding a sword and attacking pedestrians and vehicles at Buangkok Crescent.

The man, 38-year-old Fadhil Yusop, pleaded guilty on 27 December to 3 charges including a rash act endangering life and voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment and caned 6 times.

What happened?

He left his house on 14 March in the afternoon with a 63cm long Samurai sword and went to Buangkok Crescent at about 2.15pm.

He walked into the middle of the road with his sword in hand and swung it at passing cars, damaging 4 vehicles and resulting in $1,000 worth of repairs.

A pedestrian who was holding groceries was waiting for the traffic light to turn green at a junction, noticed Fadhil slashing vehicles in the middle of the road and recorded him on his phone.

Fadhil then approached the pedestrian and slashed him thrice on his shoulder and arm. and they fell to the ground.

Other passers-by then ran over and pinned Fadhil to the ground, and he was later arrested.

Police raided his home and found 2 packets of “yellow pills”, while the victim was sent to hospital with cuts and abrasions, and was given 3 days MC, incurring medical bills of about $110.
