The 37-year-old healthcare worker shared his unsavoury experience with Shin Min Daily News, and said that he had purchased the iPhone for $1,961.

The seller said that the product would be delivered to his some on New Year’s Eve, and sure enough, the parcel arrived at his home and the delivery person hurriedly left after placing it outside Yu’s door and taking a photo as proof of delivery.

Yu then opened the package and all he found were four inflated plastic bags and a block of wood, with no sight of his iPhone.

Yu called Shopee’s customer service to ask for help and they told him to request for a refund on the platform, but when he requested for a refund, his request was denied.

The reason for his denied request was due to the payment already being released to the seller, and the package being sent to his address.

He then filed an appeal, before going back to inspect the package that he received, noticing that the adhesive tape at the bottom of the box was peeled off and pasted back.

Yu suspected that his phone was stolen during the delivery, and filed a police report.
