A lie
Just sharing a terrible experience today.
I am a singaporean with malaysian spouse staying in JB. Today I cross the borders to Singapore to look for part time work. I contact a fast food restaurant for an interview. The famous KFC restaurant.
Despite showing him my pink IC, the manager asked for my passport as well. I didn’t know that when applying for work, singaporeans need to show passport as well.
He even said no passport cannot work, illegal immigrant he called me. I said Hello, I have pink IC, you want my passport what for? You have plans to harm my family in Malaysia? Or you are a robber planning to rob us? He said it’s under HR request.
I stopped replying him and texted another KFC manager, she’s my classmate from ITE. She said no, singaporeans only requires to show IC, vaccination cert and food & hygiene cert if we have any. She said I am welcome to work for her if I do need a job.
Today I finally knew, singaporeans whom marry a citizen of another country, need to show passport when applying for a job in their home country. We are being treated as foreign workers here despite we have flushed our pink IC out.
I do not know whether to laugh or to be angry now……..oh yes I am going to use a skill which is common in singaporeans behavior, to submit a complain against him.
