I’m SCAM!!!

My wife was hoping to have a Samsung Zip4 until she saw the various complaints, decided to go for iphone14. This evening she saw in Facebook a promotion on this gadget and was promoted by DBS (our bank).

She send me the link and after a tiring day, I just glance through not analysing with my brain coz $5/mth is ridiculous and too good to be true. I remember the ad. on TV and now I’ve fallen onto it.

I clicked the link and it brought me to a DBS platform, asking for user ID & Password. I did both and like usual an OTP appeared. I keyed in the OTP and received SMS from DBS stating that if the transaction is not done by me, please call the relevant authorities.

While the OTP was being verified, my account kept on deducting and I woken to my tiredness and immediately called DBS emergency service. Well, kudos to DBS, which was pretty fast. The call immediately went to the customer service(CS) after keying in #7 as instructed and was able to conversed with the CS. Immediately he block all my overseas transactions and pin. It was pretty fast and he even gave me some details to expedite this matter so I can have my money back(pray hard though).

After the call ended, I immediately went to the police to lounge a report. It was very scary, ppl out there do check your bank account weekly or monthly. Coz at times you might accidentally click on some link which unknowingly might be extracting money from your account. For instances, especially with Shopee. You decided not to buy the item but you already click pay now. There’s nothing, you logged out. Remember the money is already deducted but the item is cancelled.

There’s no order ID or details and Shopee is not that honest to refund you back the money. The worst thing is, you do not have any ID to refer to.

I trusted Facebook coz it’s been with me for the past 20 years. Now I doubt I will fully trust this social media. They should check every promotion before putting ot on the FB platform. If Complaint Singapore can screen thru details send in, why not FB? Tonight I’m the only one. I don’t know how many thousand of ppl had fallen prey to this scam.
