She said in her lengthy video, ranting: “Did you know that Singaporeans hate it when other people say that they are from China?”

“The ones who just moved to Singapore, feel that Singaporeans and PRC Chinese are one, aren’t we fellow Chinese? We should look out for each other.”

“However I didn’t expect that Singaporeans would immediately turn on us and say ‘who is a fellow Chinese with you? I am Singaporean, not from China.'”

“After being criticised by the Singaporeans, the Chinese from China never dared to tell Singaporeans that they are fellow China-Chinese anymore.”

“Singaporeans don’t like to be labeled as being from China or originated from China, they only want other people to recognise them as Singaporean.”

“This is because it has been too long and they forgot about their identity, roots and culture from China.”

Netizens’ comments

  1. I havent forgotten my roots. Im malay, in a country with Malay as its National language, at the tip of the Malay peninsula, in the middle of the malay archipelago. I think im doing fine not identifying with China.

  3. Our roots is in Singapore, you can say we are Chinese but we are not from China. Chinese is my race but not my nationality.
  4. nowadays all the kids mix this mix that. can’t believe people still can claim singaporeans come from china. if my grandfather is italian, my grandmother china chinese, my mother japanese my father singaporean = still come from china?
