He was ultimately arrested.

What actually happened

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said that the incident took place on 29 March at about 11.55pm, and a traffic police officer was riding along Geylang Road when he signalled for the motorcyclist to stop his bike for a vehicular check.

However, the motorcyclist refused to comply with the traffic policeman’s instructions and took off from the scene, speeding away.

The traffic police then pursued the fleeing motorcyclist, with the latter later crashing before fleeing on foot somewhere along Geylang Lorong 22.

He was chased by two traffic police officers who managed to arrest him along Geylang Lorong 24.

An eyewitness who was nearby at the time, spoke to Shin Min Daily News and said that after the man was caught by the police officers, a knife about the size of a palm was found on him.

He was then arrested for possession of an offensive weapon as well as a few other traffic offences, and was conveyed to the hospital conscious (because he had crashed before fleeing).

At the time of writing, police investigations are ongoing.

According to SG Road Vigilante – SGRV, who posted the video, the incident happened on 29 March 2023 at about 1146pm along Geylang Road, and was captured by another vehicle that was nearby the incident when it happened.

The motorcyclist was seen in the video skidding off his bike at the traffic junction of Geylang Road and Aljunired Road, hitting a traffic light before falling onto the pavement.

A traffic police officer riding a bike soon reached the scene seconds later from right behind the fallen rider, and the rider then hurriedly got back up on his feet and fled the scene, running away towards the left.

The traffic police officer then got off his bike quickly as well and gave chase to the fleeing motorcyclist, with another traffic police officer pulling up next to the first officer, before getting off his bike too and giving chase as well.
