The victim’s husband then immediately rushed towards his stricken wife and helped her sit up, before struggling to get her up on her feet.

Protect yourself from robberies

  1. Be aware of your surroundings

The first and most important step in avoiding robbery is to be aware of your surroundings. This means paying attention to the people around you and being mindful of any suspicious behavior. If you notice someone acting strangely or following you, try to distance yourself from them and find a safe place.

  1. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash

Carrying large amounts of cash is never a good idea, especially in unfamiliar places. Instead, consider using a credit or debit card for your transactions. If you must carry cash, keep it in a secure location such as a money belt or hidden pouch. Avoid flashing your money around or counting it in public places.

  1. Keep your valuables safe

Valuables such as phones, cameras, and jewelry are often targets for thieves. Keep them out of sight and avoid leaving them unattended in public places. If you need to take them out, do so discreetly and be aware of your surroundings.

  1. Use reliable transportation

Using reliable transportation is an important factor in avoiding robbery. Avoid using unlicensed taxis or walking alone in areas that are not well lit or are known for crime. If possible, use public transportation or hire a reputable taxi service.

  1. Stay in safe areas

When traveling in Malaysia, it is important to stay in safe areas. Research the areas you plan to visit before you arrive and avoid places that have a reputation for crime. Stick to well-lit and populated areas, and avoid deserted alleys and streets.

  1. Be cautious when using ATMs

Using ATMs can be risky, especially at night or in deserted areas. If possible, use ATMs located inside banks or shopping centers. When using an ATM, be aware of your surroundings and shield your PIN number from view.

  1. Avoid confrontations

Avoiding confrontations is essential in preventing robbery. If someone tries to start a confrontation with you, try to diffuse the situation and walk away. It is better to be safe than sorry.
