GIRL CAN’T SAVE MONEY BECAUSE MUM DON’T LET HER COOK AT HOME, SAYS “MY HOUSE MY RULES”

How do yall save money

In hopes to quickly move out of home from a toxic mum, Im (23F) trying to save more than ever. But since staying home is literally the best way to save moeny, I cant last that long since the problem is at home uk.

Beside the point, just eating outside and transport (mrt) is making me bleed, from someone who is currently sustaining on a part time job before actual (but still peanuts paying) job commences.

I cant cook as im staying in my mums house and she doesnt let me cook since its her house her rules, so ive been eating lots of maggi (cup version coz no cooking AT ALL) more than ever and i can feel it taking a toll on my health.

i do eat other stuff sometimes but like 3 meals a day is kinda expensive:’) Ive resorted to one meal a day and maggi as add on and i can alr feel the gastric problems incoming

Apart from food, stress-spending is a big problem. ppl say exercise but it doesnt help me that much personally since i feel like a dead fish after barely running AND exercising makes me more hungry so. Not to even mention social life at this point

Any methods or tips on how to save would be really appreciated. This toxic woman is ruining my life and i desperately need to move out. My (soon to be)job pays peanuts so i really need to find methods to save any suggestions is appreciated:’)

  1. Your best solution is to earn more 1st. Assuming you are working, go take on a second side hustle that requires long but easy hours. Even night shifts. That way you have a peaceful place to be most of the time, make more money, and can always have a good reason not to be home too. Just need to make sure you squeeze in rest time. Basically the only time you are home you will be dead asleep, in work clothes so it shows.
F&B jobs (some) also provide food too. Ditch the cup noodles cos it will give you more problems. Good food is cheap and practically free if you know where to look. 24/7 outlets. Especially if you do the night shifts. But its a tough job.
  2. Depending on if you have your own room, and if your mum is home all the time. An instant pot is a godsend, or you can get one of those electric cookpot in shopee. Veggies are a lot more filling than carbs, so, lightly cooked carrots and onions are my go to. Also frozen corn. Meadows stuff are cheaper than most things now, so look at that for canned food.
Try to replace your instant noodles with other types, like whole wheat stuff, it takes longer to digest so makes you feel full longer.
  3. Before you grow so sick of maggi that even looking at it will make you want to puke, try to incorporate more local fruits to your diet – bananas are dirt cheap and keep well, and honestly 4-5 can serve as a meal. Same goes for papaya.
If running is not your thing, try yoga – there are plenty of workouts on youtube and you don’t need any equipment (a mat is nice, but not necessary). Or just stretching, if yoga is not your thing.
