TikTok user @babymanddu, who is a student at Singapore Polytechnic, shared how she was on her way for an exam when she got stuck inside the lift for more than an hour.
The incident took place on 17 May in the afternoon at the T11B lift, and she was seen in the video getting stressed because she had a “competency test” that she was supposed to be at when the lift jammed.
The girl tried to call for help on her phone but because she was inside the lift, her phone had no signal and she couldn’t call for help.
She said that despite pressing the lift’s alarm bell button repeatedly, it didn’t make any sound to alert the people outside that she was trapped, and the only thing that she could do was to pray that her friends realise that she is gone.
Getting increasingly frustrated at her situation, she asked “what am I supposed to do,” as she got tired from her ordeal and even felt like falling asleep.
The girl added that her prayers were answered when her friends who took their test before her, noticed that she was not present for her test at the school’s lab and had a “feeling” that she was stuck in the lift – her friends had tried to reach out to her but none of their calls were going through to her.
They then went to the lift where the girl was trapped in, before telling the professor about her predicament, and the professor then called someone for help.
She was eventually rescued from the lift by the campus security who pried open the lift door, and the girl then rushed towards her test venue, where her professor asked if she wanted to reschedule her test after being concerned if she was well enough to commence with it.
The girl then went on with her test as originally planned, and her video went viral, with netizens commending her friends for being “lifesavers”.
