The holiday season is meant to be a joyous occasion filled with laughter and festivities. However, for Mr. Julius Lee and his family, their Christmas celebration in Malaysia took an unexpected turn when a decorative Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling of Pavilion KL fell, injuring Julius in the process, according to The Straits Times.
The Incident Unfolds
In the heart of Pavilion KL, Julius Lee, a 44-year-old Singaporean, found himself in a sudden and unsettling situation while capturing memorable moments with his wife, Aileen Tan, and their three-year-old daughter.
Aileen Tan recounts the incident, expressing her shock at the speed with which the Christmas tree descended upon her husband. Fortunately, their child, who would have been in harm’s way if in a stroller, was safely with Aileen at the time.
Response from Pavilion KL
The immediate response from Pavilion KL’s management was crucial. The fallen Christmas tree was swiftly removed, and the area secured by mall security, ensuring the safety of shoppers. Julius Lee received prompt medical attention for the bruise on his head.
The incident impacted the Lee family’s Christmas plans, having arrived in Malaysia on December 20 to celebrate the festive season. The unexpected turn of events prompted a reassessment of their holiday experience.
Pavilion Mall’s Response
We express regret for an incident that took place at noon today in which a Christmas tree branch fell and made contact with a shopper.
Our medical and safety team promptly responded, accompanying the shopper to the nearest clinic for immediate medical attention. The shopper had a minor graze and appreciated the prompt action from the management. We are in communication with him and his family to ensure his well-being.
The Christmas tree area was immediately cordoned off for safety of all shoppers. A thorough check will be conducted on all decorations to ensure its safety and integrity.
Rest assured Pavilion KL will continue to take all precautionary measures to ensure shoppers enjoy the year-end festivity with peace of mind as safety and security remain our utmost priority.
Thank you for your understanding. Merry Christmas and season’s greetings.
