In a surprising revelation on Weibo, Stefanie Sun’s younger sister, Sng Ee Mei, disclosed her decision to sever ties with a family member a day before her 40th birthday.
In her cryptic Weibo post, Ee Mei expressed weariness from attempting various communication methods with this unnamed “sister” since 2019, indicating a strained relationship.
It is worth noting that she is the younger sister of Stefanie Sun (whose birth name is Sng Ee Tze, who is the 2nd of three daughters in the family) and another sister by the name of Sng Yee Kia (the eldest)
Living in the shadow
Ee Mei, in her Weibo post, shared the challenges of living in the shadow of her famous sister for the past 20 years. Expressing the difficulty she faced, she conveyed a desire to break free from this shadow.
She also stated in her post that she had tried all kinds of ways over the last three years trying to communicate with her sister, and that she is “tired”.
The Weibo post declared the end of their sisterly bond, stating, “我跟 某某人从此不再是姐妹关系。(Translation: “I am no longer sisters with this person”
While Ee Mei did not explicitly name Stefanie, hints in the post suggested that she was referring to the Mandopop singer.

Wants to live in privacy
Ee Mei emphasized her wish to live in peace and not engage in fans’ speculations. She highlighted her past struggle with living in the public eye and expressed a desire to lead the next half of her life on her own terms.
The post concluded with an apology from Ee Mei for any perceived wrongdoing as a younger sister over the past 40 years. She expressed hope that those who may have hurt her, intentionally or unintentionally, would find their own peace. Ee Mei also thanked those who understood her decision.
Although Ee Mei did not explicitly name Stefanie in her post, the age and context strongly suggested that the estrangement announcement pertained to the 45-year-old Mandopop singer-songwriter.
Previously shared about her “struggles” living under sister’s shadow
This revelation follows Ee Mei’s previous posts about her struggles with fame and privacy, particularly during her time in Singapore. She had shared instances of being mistaken for Stefanie and the challenges she faced while trying to live a private life.
Ee Mei, who is based in Australia, is known for her striking resemblance to Stefanie. The singer’s family also includes another sister, Yee-kia, reportedly working in the finance sector.
