In a quirky turn of events, a woman in Selangor, Malaysia; found herself locked out of her apartment due to a malfunctioning electronic door lock. Faced with the prospect of expensive and troublesome door repairs, she opted for an unconventional solution – a crane.
The Door Dilemma
According to China Press, the trouble began when the resident, Tammy Kin Nee, discovered her home’s electronic lock malfunctioning upon returning. To make matters worse, her spare key was inside the apartment, leaving her stranded outside.
Tammy attempted to contact a locksmith, but was told that the only way to solve her problem would be to break down the door. The estimated costs for breaking the door (RM800), replacing her damaged digital lock and fire-rated door (RM2,000) seemed a tad bit too exorbitant.
The Crane Solution
Frustrated by the repair costs, Tammy noticed a crane used for tree-cutting nearby. A light bulb lit up inside her head and this sparked a creative solution to her dilemma.
Rather than opting for traditional door repairs and spending unnecessary money, she opted for an unorthodox solution and decided to call in a crane to lift her up to her unit, and surprisingly, the rental cost was only RM500, a considerable saving compared to the locksmith’s estimate for breaking and repairing the door.
Contrary to the assumption of living in a high-rise, Tammy’s unit was on the fourth floor. She decided to skip the locksmith’s expensive door-breaking suggestion and chose the unconventional route of using a crane to lift herself onto the balcony.
Tammy didn’t miss the chance to share her adventure on Facebook, playfully suggesting she might consider this method for future homecomings. The post sparked discussions among netizens, praising her ingenuity and applauding the cost-saving approach.
