need help with my future.
hi, i’m a 24 year old woman with a poly diploma. i’ve been working contract/temp jobs that pay me like $1.8k. my grades aren’t good enough to get into any uni full time. i’m currently unemployed and wondering what i should do next, and i feel lost.
i have social service experience, and marketing experience. i’m not sure which route to take. i seem to like the former better. i’m aware i can try taking part-time uni at suss, but first i will need to secure a full-time job, which i don’t really mind, but i doubt i can handle the costs financially even after subsidies as my father (sole breadwinner) brings home less than $2k BEFORE cpf for a family of 5.
there are WSG/CCP programs, but a lot would require me to get a diploma first and i’ve only found one that i like – social work with the accelerated degree. the cost for that is highly subsidised and the applications open in dec-jan. unfortunately, i don’t have 2 years of full-time work experience (which is part of the criteria) so i won’t be able to sign up for it until i do.
my family is lower middle class, so i am forced to take whatever job opportunity i get ASAP because of our financial situation. i can’t take my time looking for the “right” job right now because of this. i have been unemployed for almost a whole month, and it is affecting me and my family a lot.
i feel really lost. i know i’m still young but i need to keep moving, i need to do better. being young doesn’t last forever. does anyone have any advice? gentle or harsh, i don’t mind. any tips or any program recommendations etc. it would really help a lot.
