FEMALE LOANSHARK HARASSOR SPLASH RED PAINT IN EUNOS, GETS ARRESTED IN 2 DAYS

The Police have arrested a 46-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

On 10 March 2024 at about 1.50am, the Police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment at a residential unit along Eunos Crescent, where red paint was splashed on the unit and a debtor’s note was left on the floor.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the woman and arrested her on 12 March 2024.

The woman will be charged in court on 14 March 2024 under the Moneylenders Act 2008. For first time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.

The Police have zero-tolerance for loanshark harassment activities. Those who deliberately vandalise properties, cause annoyance and disruption to public safety and security, will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.
