S’PORE MAN TRAPPED IN RIVER AFTER CRASHING CAR IN KOTA TINGGI

A dramatic car rescue operation unfolded in Kota Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia, on March 15, 2024, resulting in the successful recovery of a 49-year-old Singaporean man from a Singapore-registered Toyota Alphard submerged in a river.

The man, identified as Christopher Lim, was reportedly traveling as a tour guide from Singapore to Johor Bahru when the incident occurred. According to local police, Lim lost control of his vehicle, causing it to plunge into the river.

Trapped and unconscious Lim was trapped in his seat, unable to move, and eventually lost consciousness due to the lengthy entrapment. Members of the public who witnessed the accident promptly alerted local rescuers, who arrived at the scene to find Lim almost submerged in his seat.

Using specialized tools, the rescuers worked diligently for over 1.5 hours to extricate Lim from the submerged vehicle. The rescue operation’s in-charge later informed local media outlets that Lim had lost consciousness as a result of being trapped for an extended period.

Medical treatment Following the rescue, Lim was immediately transported to Kota Tinggi Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. A hospital spokesperson confirmed that Lim remained unconscious, with preliminary reports indicating damage to his heart.
