59-Year-Old Man Arrested for Alleged Molestation at Chicken Rice Stall
A 59-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, June 2, after allegedly molesting a woman in the queue at a chicken rice stall at Chinatown Complex Market & Food Centre during peak lunch hour.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on the second floor of the hawker centre at around 1 pm, when the woman was waiting in line with her husband and two children. The man allegedly touched her without consent, sparking a commotion.
The chicken rice stall assistant reported that the woman accused the elderly man of molestation, but due to the crowded conditions, it was unclear whether the physical contact was intentional or accidental.
Another elderly patron at the hawker centre witnessed the incident and saw the man being handcuffed and led away by police shortly after.
The police confirmed the arrest of the 59-year-old man and stated that investigations are ongoing. The woman who claimed to be molested declined to speak to the press.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting personal boundaries and consent, especially in public spaces. The swift response of the police and the arrest of the suspect demonstrate the authorities’ commitment to taking allegations of molestation seriously and ensuring public safety.
