I think it’s important for everyone even Singaporeans overseas to know that if you are in a foreign country, do as the Romans do.
Don’t expect them to know your language or treat you like you are Kings or Queens just because you spend in their countries. Show them respect, and in turn they will respect you.
Language barrier? Google translate. Payment issues? Download their apps. Don’t accept visa or Mastercard? Get linepay or whatever is acceptable there first. Don’t go unprepared. Don’t think you have it all when you have none at all.
Yes, I’m talking about some tourists that expect our 7-eleven staff to know Chinese when clearly his skin tone speaks otherwise.
You represent your country when you are overseas. From the looks of what I’ve witnessed today, the level of self-entitledness exuding off them just ain’t great and creates yet another thick layer of bad impression.
