My Girlfriend Got Me Fired After Forcing Me to Miss Work and Stay Home With Her
I’ve always been a hard worker, so when I got a job at a local restaurant, I was determined to do my best and make a good name for myself. I worked extra hard and was quickly promoted to a managerial position. I was so proud of myself and my accomplishments, until my girlfriend started to interfere.
My girlfriend, who I’d been dating for a few years, started to get jealous of my job. She wanted me to spend all of my free time with her, and she got very angry when I had to work late. She started to pressure me to stay home and spend time with her instead of going to work. I felt like I had no choice but to comply with her demands so I started missing work and coming in late.
My boss was not pleased with my sudden change in behavior. He had invested a lot of time and energy into training me and he was expecting big things from me. He started to take notice of my frequent absences and tardiness and began to reprimand me. He warned me that if I didn’t shape up, I’d be out of a job.
Things got worse when I tried to explain the situation to my boss. He didn’t believe me and he thought I was just making excuses. He had no sympathy for my plight and he said that I needed to choose between my job and my girlfriend. I felt like I was in an impossible situation and I had no idea what to do.
Eventually, my boss had enough and he fired me. I was devastated and I blamed my girlfriend for my misfortune. I confronted her and told her that she had cost me my job. She didn’t seem to care and she said that I should have chosen her over my career.
Needless to say, I was heartbroken. I had worked so hard to get where I was and it was all taken away because of her. I was angry and frustrated, but I knew that I had to take responsibility for my own actions. I had allowed her to pressure me into missing work and I should have stood up for myself.
