Car accident near Changi Airport Terminal 4 leaves elderly woman hospitalised
A serious collision occurred near Changi Airport Terminal 4 on Tuesday evening, leaving a 74-year-old woman unconscious and requiring urgent medical attention.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that the woman was taken to hospital unconscious following the accident at 20 Airport Boulevard at around 6pm on 20 August. Another elderly man, aged 74, who was one of the drivers involved, was also conveyed to hospital but remained conscious.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Dashcam footage reveals moment of impact
Video footage uploaded to the Singapore Roads Accident Facebook page captured the shocking moment the crash unfolded. A grey car travelling along the right lane collided into the side of a red vehicle that had entered from a junction on the right.
The impact was so forceful that the red car flipped onto its side immediately. The traffic light at the time appeared to be in favour of the grey car, raising questions about whether the red vehicle had moved off prematurely or misjudged the situation.
The airbag on the grey car’s front passenger side deployed upon impact. Moments after the crash, a passer-by was seen running towards the overturned red car, gesturing for others nearby to call emergency services. The driver of the grey car exited his vehicle and appeared to be using his phone.

This accident near one of Singapore’s busiest airport terminals has reignited conversations about road safety, particularly at intersections where traffic lights govern right of way. Elderly drivers and passengers remain especially vulnerable in such collisions, with the force of impact often leading to serious injuries.
