Armed Robber Shot Dead During Attempted Jewellery Shop Heist in Petaling Jaya

A suspected robber died after being shot during an attempted jewellery store robbery in Petaling Jaya. The incident unfolded in broad daylight and involved a confrontation between the suspect and security guards stationed at the shop.

Attempted Robbery at Newly Opened Jewellery Store

The incident reportedly took place at around 11am when the suspect arrived at the jewellery outlet on a motorcycle. The store, identified as Wah Chan Signature, had recently opened in the area.

At the time of the incident, no customers were inside the shop. However, staff members and security personnel were present when the suspect entered the premises.

Initial reports indicate that the man attempted to carry out a robbery while armed with a sharp object. Security personnel quickly intervened when the situation began to unfold inside the shop.

The attempted robbery triggered a confrontation that escalated rapidly between the suspect and one of the security guards.

Struggle With Security Guard Leads to Gunshots

During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly struggled with one of the guards while attempting to carry out the robbery. The situation became violent when the guard sustained injuries during the struggle.

Another security guard who was stationed at the premises witnessed the altercation. Seeing his colleague injured, he discharged a firearm and shot the suspect twice in an attempt to stop the attack.

The shots left the suspect critically wounded. Emergency services later transported him to hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Despite medical efforts, the man was subsequently pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.

Police Investigating Circumstances of Shooting

Officers from the Royal Malaysia Police, specifically the district headquarters in Petaling Jaya, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.

Authorities have begun investigations to determine the full sequence of events, including how the attempted robbery unfolded and the circumstances that led to the firearm being discharged.

Police have also confirmed that the suspect was unable to escape with any jewellery or valuables during the attempted heist.

Jewellery Store Confirms Employees Safe

Following the incident, the jewellery store shared a message on social media thanking members of the public for their concern.

In a statement posted online, Wah Chan Signature said all employees were safe and unharmed despite the frightening encounter.

The message, written in Chinese, reassured customers and supporters that staff members were not injured during the attempted robbery.

Investigations into the case remain ongoing as authorities continue gathering evidence and reviewing details related to the incident.
