The incident, which took place in the early hours of March 19, saw officers from the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force deployed to the scene. Reports indicate that the operation began at around 5am and involved multiple emergency vehicles, including police cars, tactical units, rescue vehicles and an ambulance.

Authorities eventually gained access to the unit after surrounding the flat, with officers reportedly forcing entry and conducting a coordinated operation from both inside and outside the building.

Dramatic Operation Involving Rappelling Officers

Eyewitness accounts described a dramatic scene, with police officers entering neighbouring units and using ropes to descend from higher floors. Residents reported seeing officers lowering themselves from windows on the 13th floor, suggesting a carefully planned approach to secure the situation.

Safety measures were also put in place by SCDF, including the deployment of life-saving equipment such as air packs and safety nets positioned outside the affected unit. Specialised rescue personnel were placed on standby as a precaution.

A resident living directly above the unit recounted how officers entered her home early in the morning and used it as an access point. According to her, several officers moved through different parts of her flat before descending towards the unit below, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

Area Cordoned Off as Investigations Continue

The standoff reportedly ended at around 10am when the occupants opened the door, allowing police to proceed with their investigation. Both individuals were later seen being escorted away in handcuffs.

Following the arrest, authorities conducted extensive searches within the vicinity. Officers were observed inspecting common areas such as bins, flower pots and refuse collection points, as well as nearby grassy patches, suggesting they were searching for potential evidence.

Neighbours shared that the unit was believed to be occupied by tenants who had moved in months earlier but kept a low profile. Some noted that parcels were frequently left outside the door for extended periods, raising suspicions even before the incident.

As investigations remain ongoing, authorities have yet to disclose further details about the case. The incident highlights the scale and coordination of emergency response operations in Singapore, particularly in high-density residential areas where public safety is a top priority.
