Woman In Msia Jumps Out Of Moving E-Hailing Car: Claims Driver Kept “Watching” Through Mirror

A woman in Malaysia shocked motorists after she jumped out of a moving e-hailing vehicle in Klang, claiming she feared for her safety because the driver allegedly kept watching her through the rear-view mirror during the journey.

The dramatic incident, which was caught on video and later circulated widely online, reportedly took place near Taman Eng Ann on the morning of May 1.

Footage showed the vehicle travelling normally along the road before the rear passenger door suddenly swung open. Moments later, the woman leapt out of the moving car and fell onto the road surface, causing her belongings and shoes to scatter across the street.

A nearby motorcyclist quickly stopped to help her as she picked herself up and gathered her items. The woman was later seen returning briefly to the vehicle alongside another passenger, where an apparent confrontation with the driver took place.

Woman Allegedly Felt Unsafe During Ride

According to Malaysian police, the 47-year-old driver had been transporting two passengers at the time of the incident.

North Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said the woman, who was seated at the rear right side of the vehicle, suddenly opened the door and jumped while the car was still in motion.

Authorities stated that the driver stopped immediately after the incident and discovered that the woman had suffered only minor injuries.

The woman later reportedly informed police that she acted out of anxiety and concern for her personal safety. She allegedly claimed the driver had been observing her continuously through the rear-view mirror “without clear reason”.

The case has since triggered discussions online about passenger safety, women’s security concerns during ride-hailing trips, and the psychological impact of feeling unsafe in enclosed environments.

Police Investigations Ongoing

Following the incident, the driver reportedly cancelled the trip and, together with the assistance of a motorcyclist, helped send the woman to a nearby clinic for treatment.

The driver later lodged a police report as a precautionary measure.

Police are currently attempting to locate and interview the woman further as investigations continue.

The viral incident has also reignited conversations surrounding transport safety measures, dashcam usage, and personal security awareness for both passengers and ride-hailing drivers across Malaysia and Singapore.

While many online users sympathised with the woman’s fear and instincts, others urged caution against jumping out of moving vehicles due to the serious risk of life-threatening injuries. Public safety experts have also highlighted the importance of emergency contact features, ride-tracking systems, and staying connected with family members during private-hire journeys.
