The fatal shooting reportedly took place outside an entertainment centre located in Taman Industri Jaya, Skudai, an area within Johor that is frequently visited by locals and Singaporeans crossing the border for nightlife, dining and leisure activities.

Authorities said at least two other men were believed to have been injured during the incident.

Police were alerted to the shooting at around 11pm after receiving a report from a 27-year-old woman, according to Malaysian media reports.

Victim Pronounced Dead At Scene

Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner Kumarasan confirmed that the victim, a man believed to be in his late 20s, was found dead at the scene after sustaining gunshot wounds.

Another man of a similar age was reportedly injured in the attack and later received medical treatment.

A separate report indicated that the deceased was 27 years old.

Police also suspect that a third man may have been wounded during the shooting. However, investigators have yet to formally identify him after he allegedly left the area with an acquaintance shortly after the incident.

Authorities are now appealing for the unidentified injured man to come forward to assist with investigations.

The brazen attack outside a public entertainment venue has raised concerns over violent crime in Johor Bahru, especially given the city’s popularity among Singaporean travellers seeking nightlife, food and short weekend getaways.

Murder Investigation Underway In Johor Bahru

Malaysian police confirmed that the case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of Malaysia’s Penal Code for murder.

Investigators are actively tracking down two suspects believed to have fled after the shooting.

At this stage, police have not disclosed the possible motive behind the attack or whether the victim and suspects knew each other.

No arrests have been announced so far.

The incident comes amid growing public attention on violent crimes occurring in parts of Johor, particularly areas close to major transport routes connecting Malaysia and Singapore. Security experts have previously noted that entertainment districts can become hotspots for gang-related disputes, personal conflicts and organised criminal activities, especially during late-night operating hours.

Singaporeans travelling into Johor Bahru are generally advised to remain alert when visiting nightlife areas and to avoid isolated locations late at night.

Malaysian authorities said investigations remain ongoing as forensic officers continue gathering evidence from the crime scene and reviewing possible surveillance footage from nearby premises.
