In the video shared online by TikTok user @gordonramli, the man, dressed in a blue shirt, was seen standing beside a red taxi operated by Trans-Cab.
The uploader stated they were unsure what had happened before the confrontation escalated.
The footage allegedly showed the man hitting parts of the taxi’s interior before pursuing the driver, who was wearing an orange shirt, around the vehicle. At several moments during the confrontation, both men appeared to hold up their mobile phones, seemingly recording each other.
The most dramatic moment occurred when the man allegedly kicked the taxi’s side-view mirror, causing it to break and hang from the side of the vehicle.
The incident drew strong reactions online, with many Singaporeans expressing concern over aggressive behaviour in public spaces, especially in busy tourist and transport areas such as Chinatown.
Taxi Suffers Multiple Damages During Incident
According to reports by local media, Trans-Cab confirmed that the driver had filed an internal report with the company following the altercation.
The taxi operator said it is currently supporting the driver and assisting with follow-up procedures related to the incident.
Apart from the damaged side-view mirror, the company reportedly said the taxi also suffered damage to its mobile data terminal and gear stick. Scratches and dents were also found on the bonnet of the vehicle.
Trans-Cab added that the driver was physically unharmed and currently doing fine.
The company emphasised that the safety and well-being of both drivers and passengers remain a priority, and said it would continue cooperating fully with the authorities as investigations continue.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns surrounding public drunkenness and disruptive behaviour in Singapore’s busy city districts, where confrontations captured on social media can quickly attract national attention.
