The incident reportedly took place at a childcare facility located in Taman Sri Kluang, drawing outrage online after details of the alleged punishment surfaced on social media.

According to Kluang police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh, the child’s guardian lodged a police report at about 8.46pm on Thursday, 28 May.

Authorities are now investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of Malaysia’s Child Act 2001, which relates to child abuse, neglect and exposure.

If convicted, offenders may face severe penalties including fines and imprisonment.

Child Allegedly Forced To Consume Spicy Water

Police said the teacher was accused of compelling the young student to drink chilli-infused water as a form of punishment.

While authorities have not disclosed the child’s condition or the exact circumstances leading to the alleged incident, the accusation quickly sparked anger among Malaysian netizens and parents online.

Many social media users questioned how such disciplinary methods could allegedly take place inside a childcare environment meant to protect and educate young children.

Others called for stricter oversight of childcare centres and kindergartens, saying parents place immense trust in teachers and caregivers when leaving their children in school.

The case reportedly gained traction after claims were shared on the Facebook page “This is Johor”, where allegations surfaced that pupils at the kindergarten had previously faced abusive and physical punishment.

However, police have yet to confirm those additional claims as investigations are still ongoing.

Police Urge Public To Come Forward With Information

ACP Bahrin stated that investigations are currently underway and further updates will be announced once more information becomes available.

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant details regarding the incident to contact the nearest police station or reach out directly to the Kluang district police headquarters.

The incident has also reignited wider conversations across Malaysia and Singapore regarding child safety, teacher conduct and disciplinary standards in schools and childcare facilities.

Cases involving alleged abuse of children by educators often trigger strong public reactions, especially when physical or humiliating punishments are involved.

Many parents online expressed concern about the emotional trauma such punishments could cause to young children, with some calling for mandatory CCTV systems in classrooms and childcare centres for greater accountability.

The investigation remains ongoing.
